The island of Iona just off the coast of mainland Scotland has a long and illustrious history. It is well known as being ‘The cradle of Christianity’ in Scotland, thanks to the thundering voice of Irish abbot and missionary evangelist by the name of Columba.
Aidan of Lindisfarne did for England what Columba did for Scotland. Largely, paganism was given its marching orders and Christianity took firm root in much of the land.
Sometimes it looks like the bad guys are winning and get all the lucky breaks. Over the centuries Christianity has taken some heavy hits, but it continues to bounce back stronger than ever!
